Archbishop-designate Cordileone has made the following announcement:
"In order to relieve me of the burden of the pastoral governance of two dioceses at the same time as I assume leadership in San Francisco, the Holy Father has appointed the Most Reverend Alexander Brunett, Archbishop Emeritus of Seattle, as the Apostolic Administrator of Oakland effective October 4, 2012, until such time as a new bishop is appointed for Oakland and takes possession of the diocese... I am grateful to Archbishop Brunett for the enthusiasm with which he has accepted this appointment. He has a wealth of experience, and I am confident that this will benefit the diocese during this period of transition."
Welcome, in advance, to our upcoming Administrator!
